9/11/08

For those of you new to my small neck of the virtual woods, welcome.

I started my site back in August 2007 primarily to stay busy after leaving CNN and to help work through figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Over the past year, it's become a labor of deep love, and even though I am busier than ever now working hard to try and fix health care in our country, I am passionate about making sure this site stays active and fun and relevant.

Since today is the 7th anniversary of September 11th, it's appropriate to at least mention that I was in NYC - in the East Village - that day, and it was as traumatic an experience as you'd expect. I choose not to relive it in detail simply because telling the story brings back vivid emotion best left at rest. However, last year I wrote a little something that still rings true:
"Why do we wait for some definitive moment to tell people how we really feel about them?"

It may be a little cliche to suggest - especially on 9/11 - but maybe it is worth saying something nice to someone today. Maybe something you wouldn't normally share because it seems a little out of place in the absence of a trigger.
Let's do that again this year.
