I realize this post constitutes my admitting I watch The Real Housewives of New York City. I do. Get over it.
Anyway, last night Kelly - the newest of the group - went running in NYC traffic. Now I've been a part of enough TV productions to know how this went down behind the scenes. There was a car in front of her with a camera shooting her jog. And there were cars on all sides of her making sure she was safe. But her voiceover during this casual jaunt in traffic was one of the most absurd I've ever heard. She went on and on about the liberation of being amongst the cars in the streets of NYC.
As a runner and a former New Yorker, I have it on good authority that no one does that.
You go run in the park or you run on the sidewalk or you run along one of the rivers on either side of the island. You don't run through traffic in the middle of the street. You certainly don't do it wearing tight short spandex, full make-up, and perfectly blown-out hair.
I know there's more unreal than real in most reality TV, but whoever allowed this little scene to air advocating jogging in NYC traffic should be forced to try it. Just once. See how that works out for you.
UPDATE: Ok, so now it makes more sense. This was obviously a ridiculous stunt. Look at the "sweepstakes" question on the Bravo website:
