The Smoking Gun's got the deets on the man who stabbed his brother-in-law in the stomach. The two were arguing over politics.
The complaint says Ortiz (the stabber) backs Clinton while Shurelds (the stabbee) backs Obama.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess there was alcohol involved.

If Ortiz is convicted of the felony charge, he won't be able to vote. And voter registration records reveal that Ortiz, who supports Clinton, is registered Republican. ...

Yeah, maybe it's just me, but I don't consider Republicans so disgusted with McCain that they'll support Hillary Clinton (sounds like it might be Ann Coulter/Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck territory) to be Democrats.
